Summer Reading..

Abe and Cane

James Grippano is originally a lawyer and his writing portrays his expertise in the field of criminal law. He meticulously unfolds the details of a crime scene where a lady advocate is dead and the protagonist's wife is missing. Revealing just enough to get you intrigued without giving away the answers till the very end kept me attentive, searching for clues and the criminal. After a point it got frustrating not knowing who was responsible but couldn't put it away cause I needed to know.

Euphoria

This novel is written by Lily King and its about three anthropologists studying the tribes in Papua, New Guinea in the 1930's. Nell Stone is a popular anthropologist from America who already has a book published on the natives of Solomon Islands. She is exceptionally good at connecting with the native women and has a special bond with the children in the tribe. She has a best-selling ethnography "The Children of Kirakira" which won acclaim and grant money that helped her and her husband Fen, also an anthropologist from Australia, to fund their stay in the islands. Andrew Bankson is a British anthropologist, trying to escape his reality back home. The novel revolves around how the three of them meet and the dynamics, jealousy, competition between them unfolds. It was definitely a page turner and kept me at the edge. It was also a delight reading through the daily life of an anthropologist on the field and seeing every situation and interaction with the tribe as a learning process for work.
