I had not heard of the book Eat Pray Love until then, I did not know who Elizabeth Gilbert was before I watched this video and it was pure luck that I chanced upon this talk without any preconceived notions about what she will say that will change the way I think about creativity and 'a creative genius' as she puts it. I loved how eloquent she was and how enchanting her storytelling skills were.
I was compelled to read the book that she kept mentioning as a freakish success and boy! I was in for an adventure. I was salivating at her description of Italian pasta and pizza. I suspect I got my push to try yoga and meditation from the Indian leg of her trip and Bali ranks high on my 'have to visit' bucket list. I was captured by every moment of her journey and it felt like I was with her all along, seeing what she saw and feeling what she felt.
After reading the book I was psyched to hear that a movie was coming out based on the book with Julia Roberts in the lead! Later I watched the movie and thought it lived up to my expectations. As with movies based on books I understand it is very difficult to picture every detail in the book and many a times our minds do a better job at imagining a scene than what a camera can ever capture.
Ending this post with what Miss.Gilbert says in the video... I am doing my part of the job and hoping the genius shows up for its part of the job ;)
